How Fast Is My Connection?

Hi all

Can anyone recommend a (preferably free) utility or website that will test the speed of my internet connection for me. I've tried searching Google but to no avail.

Thanks flame1117 for your startlingly prompt answer.

Two problems with the link you pointed to. Firstly I am based in England, and the server to test the speed is in California so would this give a rather unrealistic answer? Secondly, I am using WinXp and since installing this have never got Java working - in spite of various downloads and postings to this site.

Any more ideas?

I was lucky to get here, as im having a lot of trouble with my connection speed. Thats why im asking for your help. I've been having issues for some days now, and every adsl speed test i do, offers different results. I am really lost here. cheers and thanks in advance.
 
You should have created your own thread as this one is almost 5 years old. However, try this site to see if you get better results and if not let us know.

www.speedtest.net Pick a server that is closest to where you live, which is very important to get your true speed.
