How hard is it to install a new motherboard and new CPU?

OK, I just bought a new CPU for my computer, but before it got to my house in the mail the motherboard died some how and wouldn't post. Sock My origanal motherboard was a Socket A, And now I just bought a $200 CPU and I can't return it unless its DOA. So now I'm getting a new Socket A motherboard and Now I reolize, it a breand new motherboard AND brand new CPU. I have herd that if I try to install them that I will get TONS of conflicts. Is it true and since I still have a Socket A CPU, will that make the prosses any easyer? And if I do get TONS of problums, can someone walk me through the steps that they took? The motherboard does come will drivers for itself.

its easy although, socket A? not sure why you didnt upgrade to 939 or AM2, but you may need a windows disc to be able to start your computer again, put it in and do a system restore, you shouldnt get any conflicts at all.....
 
you can try to do a windows repair using that option on your windows cd but
you will proberly have to install windows again,
if you do have to install windows again you will need a genuine windows cd you wont be able to use a recovery cd you got with the pc.
if you got a proper windows cd with the pc use that and use the key that should be on the side of your tower ,
when you register windows it will fail ring the number it gives and tell them your mobo has brock and that you have replaced it and they should give you a new key good luck
(dont mess up the front usb ports or you will be buying another mobo!)
 
Installing a motherboard really isn't that hard.

First off remove your old mother board by disconnecting any cables, then remove your expansion slot cards and ram. I would also take the old cpu out and save it, just in case you need to test a mobo or something, always good to have spares around. After there is nothing connected to your motherboard simply unscrew all the screws and lift out the old motherboard. Now in your case in the back there should be a faceplate thing, take that out and replace it with the new one that came with your new motherboard.

Next make sure you are grounded by either using an anti-static wrist band or by touching some unpainted metal. Some motherboard manuals tell you to install your cpu now, you can do it now or after your motherboard is in, its just some heatsinks can be a pain to install later on. Follow your cpu's and motherboard instructions on how to install your cpu and heatsink. Slowly lower your new mother board down on top the of motherboard stands, that is what your motherboard gets screwed into, moving them around if necissary. Next screw your motherboard down, tight but not too tight and make sure that it is not touching your case to prevent a short. Replace your ram, and expansion cards. Attach the necessay drive, and power cables internally and then plug everything back in in the back of your case.

After that its just a matter of installing drivers, which you can also get from the manufacturers website and they are probably newer drivers then on the cd. If you have any questions just ask.

yeah thats why i dont even plug my usb ports in, i have 5 in the back...lol
