how hard is ssd os install

Hi,
Just got a friend who's asked me to install a new ssd for him and wipe his hard drive. then install windows 7 on the ssd and have hdd as data. I haven't installed an os onto an ssd as of yet so this will be my first one. I've read through the guide. It seems fairly easily.

It is mainly changing bios for ssd, then boot and go through os setup as normal and hdd will be mounted as data. Just want to check i understand correctly and if the normally time needed to do os install will apply.

Thanks

I'd guess its the same as a regular install, except you choose to install on the SSD instead of the HDD.

1) Disable page file or move it to the HDD, or have a small <1GB pagefile on the SSD.
2) Disable hibernation from CMD: "powercfg -h off" and reboot
3) Don't install/uninstall too many updates/service packs otherwise the WinSxS folder will artificially bloat due to all the hard links/ntfs junctions (people have reported sizes upwards of 25GB)
4) Install only essential items on the SSD (Windows, Office, web browsers, favourite games, etc.)
5) Turn off system restore
6) Keep your windows user profile clean/light. Many MMO's will keep installation folders inside it, itunes keeps music in it by default, etc.

That's what I thought. So basically the same.

Do you need to worry about doing firmware updates etc with ssd's or just use how it is out of box?
