How hard to hack my system over unsecured wireless?

I recently found out a wireless connection I've been using is unsecured, how difficult would it be for an outside party to get into my system? There is another computer on the same sytem, plugged into the wireless router. Would they be able to access that? Thanks.

The first step to securing your access point/router is to determine what security measures it employs. Depending on the device it may use all three of the following security measures:

Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP): 64-bit and 128-bit
Wi-Fi Protected Access™ (WPA)
MAC Address filtering

At the very least you need to have Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) enabled. If your access point/router supports Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), this security measure currently offers the greatest level of protection. Refer to the documentation that came with your device to set up and use the security measures. If you don’t have documentation, it can usually be downloaded from the manufacturer’s website.

Thanks for the info, I figured as much but wanted to be sure. This is a work connection, and as near as I can tell there is no real security. I am able to open up my laptop and jump right on, so there must not be. I will check out those links.

What are some of the things I could do if I could connect to an unsecure wireless connection?

a guy drives by your house, windows picks up a wireless connection, automatically conencts to it, and then 10 seconds later hes using your internet.

Im not going to snoop through anything i was just curious. Is there anything else a person could do besides look through your shared folders and steal your internet?
