Now that the price has dropped to $300 on newegg, this might be a good option. How high of an Oc can you get with this chip with a either a good X38 or 780i MB and a good Hsf like a zalman 9700 ? Has anyone been getting close to 4.00 or is pretty much the same as a q6600 and not worth the extra money?

well i think it really depends on ur cooler !

if you want to get to 4.0 you will definitly need liquid cooling or huge towers with fan or fans

good motherboard and ram are essential.

i cant get my qx6700 higher than 3.2 and im using water.
the board becomes unstable for some stupid reason.

Wow ..I thought with the higher multiplier and at 2.66 compared to 2.40 the q6700 would be a lot better Oc'er than the Q6600

it is. i use to get it stable @ 3.4. but my motherboard is acting wierd. i think ineed to flash my bios to an earlier version. the latest driver for this board isnt great.

$300 wow. well i might get 2 thing from usa a CPU and a GPU yay.

well you will need a good cooling system for sure

as said before good ram and mobo (if the ram cant oc till there, whats the point)

Hmm... alot of people can get 3.4 or more with the Q6600 .I wonder why it is not getting more than that with a higher starting clock speed and a higher multiplier ? What is the diffrence between a Qx6700 and a Q6700 anyways ?

Does anyone have this chip (the Q6700 not the Qx6700) that can tell me the Oc'ing results they are getting.Just trying to decide if this better than the Q6600 for $70 more for the extra performance or waiting and paying $349 for the Q9450 ?
