I've tried to hook an Acer 5535 laptop with Vista Basic to TV through VGA to RGB cable, but without success.

Anyone know how to do it?

yes. since the TV not working, i try to hook the laptop to LCD monitor via VGA to VGA cable, it works.
then I go back to TV, nothing shown on TV but black screen. I knew if there is no signal, TV would show blue screen, still can't figure out what happen...

I think I read somewhere that VGA (from a computer) cannot be turned into component signal. Although you can buy the cables !?! I am pretty sure about that as originally I wanted to hook my laptop upto my TV like that. I had to use S-Video instead. That works fine, although resolutions aren't high enough to do anything other than loook at pictures/watch videos.

Look at this product on Amazon, I am assuming this is what you have.

Does your TV not have VGA input...?

Doug.

i have mine hooked up to a 40" sony. its not a crt though. its lcd. I have to switch to mode 7 on the tv to make it work. Im sure yours would be different. then again the tv may have to be set up to something like channel 3 for it to work.

Maybe others will no. i don't..sorry.
Stupid question but i have to ask. my tv has a video plug and accepts a standard cable video cable just like on the monitor. long shot. thats all i got.
I'll watch and learn from the geeks. i just try to help.

Do you have the TV hooked up to the computer when you boot the computer? When I ran my TV as a second monitor, it wouldn't display my TV in my control panel unless I had the TV connected and powered on in the right input. If you do this, then it should display the bootup sequence on the TV.

Do you mean I should turn off both TV and laptop before get the cable connect?
