i already have a new graphic card and a dvd rom
all i need to know is the processor is good and of curse, the ddr memory.
im guessing you know more than i do what psu i should take for a 9500GT ULTRA (no gamer uses )
i think a decent psu will do, say, 450w?

i heard that there is no use for a 1066 mhz memory unless im going to overclock .. what do you think

For the PSU, i would look for a 450watt corsair, or a 500watt ocz.

I would suggest going with a phenom II based system over core 2 quad, as if you plan on upgrading, the core 2 quads are basically end of life, as socket 775 will have no new cpu's released.

well you are using a q9450 yourself
but seriously i have a realy bad experience with AMD
and about the 'end of life' , sounds logical but what are you suggesting ?waiting? i have no use in i7

Bomber built his computer like 15 months ago before socket 775 went dead. What kind of bad experience have you had with AMD. Soon the i3 and i5 will be out from Intel you can wait and get one of those if you won't but they don't seem worth the wait to me.

what us socket 775 and what do you mean it went dead

lol you really confused me , should i wait or not?

AMD dont support some programming tools and work slower (uptime etc.)
intel on the other hand does. intel israel invented the quad core so its always been very cheap here

Socket 775 is the type of socket the core 2 quads use. When I said it went dead I mean that its done, end of life, no more. They will not be making any more CPU's to fit this socket which means if you get a socket 775 motherboard you can never upgrade the CPU.

see the difference between the socket 775 which the core 2 quads use and the socket 1366 which the i7 uses.

Well if you are set on a Intel then yes I would wait to the new line of Intel CPU come out. I believe the new chips come out in September but I'm not sure.

What kind of programming tools does amd not support? Amd and intel currently support the same instruction sets. Socket 775 is the current midrange platform for intel, but will soon be replaced by i3 and i5, and no new processors will be released for socket 775, and therefor cannot be upgraded with just cpu in the future, and instead would require upgrading both motherboard and cpu.

well i have a mac , besides it i have two more PC's with an amd and the other with an intel c2d e7500
i tried to install the mac os on the intel, and i managed to make it work , after some programming
on the amd however , nothing , nadda , dead.
i know its because the mac also uses intel , and maybe i just dont know enough, but the bottom line is that intel is more common.
i think you're giving amd too much credit .

thanks for the comments

yeah but dont you think the whole thing will still cost too much ?
i mean, a decent motherboard for an i7 costs 150-200$ and so on to the whole system

Actually the reason you cant put osx onto an amd based system is the fact it is illegal to install osx on anything but an apple branded pc.

I think your giving Intel to much credit yes Intel makes good CPU's but they are really no better then AMD and no there not more common then AMD. You shouldn't be installing OSX on anything other then an Apple computers because it is against the law to install it on anything other then an Apple branded computer. If you have a Mac then why do you need to have OSX on a PC anyways that doesn't make much sense. If you are putting AMD down because they don't work with an OS that was made for a different computer then that's kind of stupid. There is nothing wrong with AMD other then there performance isn't as good as Intel but that OK with me because AMD doesn't charge $1000 for some of there processors. If you won't a powerful computer for a good price then get AMD if you won't a computer to put OSX on then buy another Mac.

you both totally misunderstood
that was an example ,both of the PC's are running vista ,i tried to dual boot for fun . i dont think apple would mind . (like you never download music :P)

if you say they are equal than ok , you know better i wont argue, but i want an intel for my self . so im asking witch one should i get?

No, its illegal and cannot be done technically. If you use one of those versions floating around on the web, there are ways to install onto an amd based machine...but all of it is illegal. Right now, either go i7 or phenom II, socket 775 is a dead upgrade.

well thats kinda true that it went dead, but I dont think an average user will pitch out $1300 for an i7 system. A lot if people will still be suing and buying lga 775 socket type cpu's.

Like bomber said i7 or Phenom II is the only way to go right now unless you wait for the i3 and i5 to come out. You said you don't need a i7 so just get a Phenom II they will be fine for what you won't Intel has no advantages over AMD and you won't have to spend $1500 on a PC you don't need. If you won't Intel but don't won't an i7 then just wait and get an i5 I think they come out in September.

is the i5 going to be like the core 2 duo's? or dual core's?

I think that the i3's will be core 2 duo's and the i5's will be core 2 quads not sure about the i9 though. There probably going to cost to much of budget builders to afford anyways plus they will pretty much have no upgrade ability that's why I'm staying away from Intel right now I don't won't to have to buy a new motherboard every time a new CPU comes out and with AMD I don't have to.

if the i5's will be like core 2 quad's. Then What is the i7 like?
