How is this build? ($!400 budget for mild-gaming)

One thing I would change, is ya try and squeeze in a 7900gt. They aren't much more then a 7600gt. As well get the regular ASUS P5B motherboard and upgrade to a e6600, shouldn't cost you much more if any to do that, I think its like $20 more for a pretty large gain in performance. Or still change the motherboard and go with a 7900gt instead and keep the cpu, but if you plan on oc'ing at all, the 4MB of cache will do you some good.

I agree the 7900GT would fit well into the rig, if the budget can't allow for it then so be it. The 7600GT will do perfectly fine, for a decent amount of time.

i think you should switch the mobo to this

its much cheaper...and its decent...next since your using the dual core...you really dont need THAT many cooling fans...if you can you should find a better case and also a heat sink is already included in the intel dual core chip...its sufficient enough...and with the now...left over cash..you can upgrade on ram and the graphic card...oh and also...do you REALLY need a floppy drive? for GAMING?

I'm purchasing this system for some gaming and whatever else for school, internet, etc. My current system has a 6600GT but is very slow. It can run games like WoW and AoE3, but they are very, VERY, slow on high settings, if playable at all....
I believe the reason for this is because my current comp has 512 Ram (DDR not DDR2) and an older single-core Pentium 4. The motherboard is too old, and has no PCI slots. In addition, its not compatible with Conroes... The PSU is only 400W... When I try to run IE, it sometimes struggles just with minimal tasks.... Just looking to upgrade, and don't want to spend more on a pre-built.

obviously its just my two cents, but id recommend not spending 1400 if you arent a gaming or benchmark addict, which you dont appear to be.

a 1GHz processor for "mild" gaming? You gotta be kiddin' me..

What do you mean 1ghz? The E6400 is 2.13ghz.

@twolves90, you're spending way too much on a motherboard for that rig, drop it down a few notches and get a 7900gt, you won't regret it.
