Hi guys,
i've already bought:

pentium 4 3.0 775 pins
msi 945 motherboard
1 gig kinston ram, i think
xfx 6600GT 128mb pci-e

i plan to get 450 watt psu

Also, I can either sell my current computer parts, or i can buy another monitor, another keyboard and mouse, and case for another pc to lan.
i'd rather another computer...so what do u guys think?

what do you tguys think of it?

my current computer is:
p4 2.4
512 kingston ram
intel motherboard with integrated graphics

so you can tell that i really do need a new pc, although i can still play games on it

well you computer u got atm is worth like 150-200bucks. so, u could sell that and return your 6600gt and get a 7800 =P.

Can anyone advise me on what case would be good, also a crt monitor is better for gaming isnt it? So which flat crt monitor should i go for?

Make sure it's a good one :) Have a look at psu101 to see how to pick a good one from a bad one

1. The benifit of a flat monitor only make themselves apparent if you dont intend to sit in front of the monitor while playing
2. As for upgrades and stuff ... whats the budget

yup, i plan to get antec 450 Watts
i want a decent case, somewhere from 50 to 150 australian dollars, and what upgrades do you ,mean?

See your post#1, my question is what is your question? You bought a computer (cool), then you talk about something to do with another computer ... so what reccomendations are you looking for? :)

Oh, sorry maybe i didn'ty explain it clearly enough. My current computer is p42.4
512 ram, intel motherboard with integrated graphics. I was wondering it if was worth selling parts of my current computer and replace with the new parts i bought.

Or should i get another monitor, k/b, mouse, and a router to set up a wireless connection? These things would be used for the 2nd computer

Before we jump to genralizations that problem is generally isolated to NeoHH PSUs and newer ASUS mobos (for which Antec has fixes for) :)

I dunno, depends how much you can sell your parts for: i dont think you can sell it for enough to have a meaningful performance upgrade so I personally would go with the peripheral upgrade :)

Really? The shop I got my parts from recommended me to get antec. So what do other people think about the antec psu?

Also have a look at PSU101 :) (and its always safer to avoid generalizations especially when Antec makes PSUs for entire performance spectrum) :)

ok, thanks for your input, can anyone recommend a decent router and case?
This is why i asked you for a budget in post8 :) How much money do you have to play with?

Case under or around 150 australian, router 150 australian as well.
That converts to around 110 USD, but prices are different.

Ok to deal with shipping/lack-of-avail/higher-prices-in-AUS, ill pretend the budget for the router is $80USD (i dont do cases). A few things:
- Determine if you actually need a router (or just a wireless access point), i'll assume you do need a router
- Determine any specific features u need from your router (i.e., you need pre802.11n or you need 16 ports etc)

The Linksys WRT54G [$39.99 after $15MIR] is pretty damn standard as the DLink DI624 [$34.99 after $25MIR]. I personally use DLink DGL-4300 [$125] (ok thats a lie, i use the wired version of that, not a fan of wireless but the same idea)
