how is this monitor?

Spec wise it looks OK. I tend to always give the same advice when purchasing equipment, this time shall be no different :). Look for several reviews from reputable sites/people, read each and every one completely. Best to get the advice from someone who has used it.

I dont know, i got my 19in wide for 184 bucks, that sounds like a lot more for another inch.

I think it is harder to find a decent monitor with those specs at much lower price. Was your screen on sale? The price range of $300-$400 seems reasonable to me.

Honestly i like that deal, samsung makes great screens, and the specs arent half bad..price is good i give 2 thumbs up with a giant grin.

Mine was on sale, but is now the same price anyways (damn them) and has a faster response time by 1ms, nothing, i know, but still the best deal that Ive found.

If you are a gamer I wouldn’t buy LCD, I was just in the market for a LCD before I bought my 24" Sony widescreen. What I was reading from numerous sites was the LCD's just aren’t fast enough yet to keep up with the high FPS games. Now if you’re not a gamer it would be perfect.

I do not agree. about 1 1/2 years ago I would have though. I game on my 8ms Viewsonic and it is great! I used to own the 3ms viewsonic VX92 and it was great for gaming also, the blacks where not black enough for me so I gave it to the wife and bought the 8ms VP930b.

When did you buy that 24" sony? what is the response? I'm guessing it is a slower screen. What model is it?

Anyway when gaming CRT's are superior "if" it is important to change resolutions. "Most" LCD's don't do that well (and none as well as a CRT). Also if you buy an LCD with 500:1 or less Contrast then CRT's again are more superior (in the black level department). Buy a good LCD with fast response and high contrast and say goodbye to those bulky CRT's. Oh yes and not that it matters to many but get an 8bit panel. LCD's are great for gaming :P I own 2 CRT's (photo editing workstation) and 2 LCD's (everyday/gaming PC). In 33 years I've gamed plenty on CRT's, I was happy with my choice of getting LCD's.

Just wanted to add, djray77 if your going to lend advice, it's best to explain why you feel that LCD's are no good for gaming. I've also read that LCD's are no good for gaming, also I've read they are just fine. However, I'll take my personal experience over what someone else has to say anyday.

I was commenting on my own experience and what I read on sites like tomshardware. He and you can take it how you wish.
I thought he may like input from the experience of severval people.

same here with my 5ms 19" hanns-g widescreen..I play lots of games with no problems no ghosting nothing at all..my new lcd even looks better than my crt..but I agree in the past when the response times were slow they really weren't a good pick for gaming but now technology has passed that.

I'm all for that, I just thought it was more helpful for you to explain why they are no good for gaming when you say it so definite. It would seem your experience is limited to one display where others have experience with several. It is very true that you need a little knowledge when buying an LCD, many can be lemons in the gaming department.

LCD's being limited to 2d applications are a thing of the past. They work very well for gaming as well as watching video.

my main lcd is an older aoc which seems to work just fine for me in games, i wish i could use my samsung as my main monitor but the aoc is too tall to fit where my secondary monitor should go. (dual monitors)
