How long do you keep your comp on..

I leave mine on 24/7 to fold (see http://www.computerforum.com/12993-folding-home-how-can-i-make-difference.html), I've known people leave theirs on for a stretch of 6 months or more. Often company computers are never switched off either.

The fans may be wearing out a tiny insignificant bit, but to be honest most pc's get upgraded before fans wear out. And the small power surge of constantly turning on the pc and off again can cause a very small amount of damage as well, but it's no big deal either way. Don't be worried about leaving it on if you want to, except make sure you have a smoke alarm - nothing about the pc per se, just common sense for anything left on.

Windows sometimes benefits from the odd restart every once in a while though...

When i had my dell i left it on all the time cause it took forever to boot up. But now that i got my new computer i turn it off on night cause the powersupply has a blue led fan in it and its bright at night.

OMG, really, how long must it have taken you to type out that message with capitals at the beginning of each word, my god man, the shift button is optional ya know, you dont HAVE to press it on every word....

And also, really, ya think people dont know how to turn a PC off....??

it shouldnt harm the computer, especially since you are not usually doing too much (maybe just folding or downloading) but if it is not working super hard then it is fine to leave it on

I havent turned off my computer since i got it, which is about 2 months ago. I occasionaly restart it when i need to, but other then that, its on all the time.

Can't keep it on at night, too damn loud and I'm concerned about lightnings. Like yesterday we had a big storm, rained a lot for a few hours and we could see and hear lightnings over a period of 3-4 hours but it rained through the night.
