Hi,

How many frames per second does FX5200 rate for DX9 games?
It has been identified in many articles that FX5200 is too slow for DX9 games,
but gamers like me who doesn't have any experience with that card
cannot be sure how much it is slow. If you've played DX9 games
on FX5200 environment, would you tell me how many frames per second
it rates for DX9 games? Especially 800*600*32 and 1024*768*32...
Any opinion except "it simply sucks at all" is appreciated.

not much , 5200 isnt really for games , if u want a video card for games , u should plan on gettin a 9600XT that card has good graphics for its price range

FX5200 isnt much better than an MX-440. in some cases its even worse...other tests it pulls ahead(but not much) i wouldnt suggest it for new games. like kalson said the 9600XT is best bang for the buck if u got the buck.

FX 5200 IS for gaming

Hi,
If a FX5200 is nto for gaming why was it made as a directx 9 card and why does it have all these shader versions that a mx heheh "mx" does not have c'mon a mx is like a 486 computer please some one help me....and well you cant realy get the same frame rate on any game it depends on what resolution setting u have it on and other setting e.g shaddows the XT card is for internet browsing as far as i am conserned. But if you want to know the truth stick with wat ever car you think suits you man....i own a FX 5200 and i have not have one prob wif it it has run every single game that i have put thru it even far cry with no gliches or laggs so go with wat you think....dont get a upgrade cause ur next door neightbour said you video card is crappy they are good cards and the will live forever thanx that all i wanted to say and thsi is a first post for me so get back to me on this..... :D

the MX card doesnt have all the fancy stuff that the 5200 does cuz it was an older card not made when that stuff was present. the FX5200 has basically the same limts as a MX card (just includes the newer features). i have a MADDOG Nvidia geforce4 MX-440 and i got it to 350core and 500 memory. most FX 5200 cant even overclock that good. thats why i said it is about equal performance wise. the FX5200 was produced as a budget card for LIGHT gaing.its a sad excuse for a card when you want to run max resolution and all kinds of effects in a game. you can urun lower quality settings with it just fine and have 100fps sure...it'll run fine.but start turning all the settings to the max and it will slow down tremendously (thats light gaming...where not everything is maxed out) your betteroff saving a lil' more $$$$ and getting a better card. cuz when HL2 and doom 3 comes out the FX5200 will be bottom of the bin, it might not even be supported who knows.

my dad still runs a P1 comp. back in its day it was the best..it ra games the best..and itstill works. but believe me its not going to "live forever." as new games come out you will be throwin hat card awawy. unless you want to be playing farcry and games like that "forever." then maybe yes it will last as long as it dont die on you...burt i seriously doubt you can play thesaame game FOREVER lol.

Because it was marketing gimmick which worked -- by making even their budget/business cards have DX9 suppor they could then say their entire GFX line was DX9 capable -- something ATi couldnt say about their entire 9000 line of cards.

why does it have all these shader versions that a mx heheh "mx" does not have
Becuase it's a part of the DX9 spec. And if you look at it in detail those shaders run slighly crippled which is why the GFX pixel, rendered on a GFX5200 looks a lot "simpler" than the one rendered on a GFX5900

c'mon a mx is like a 486 computer please some one help me....
Whether you know it or not the GF4MX will outperform the GFX5200 in many games (obviously not those running DX9). As for DX9 games, the GFX5200 will either choke and die on high resolution/high quality or you will have to drop the quality/res -- why else do you think the GFX5200 is so cheap?

and well you cant realy get the same frame rate on any game it depends on what resolution setting u have it on and other setting e.g shaddows the XT card is for internet browsing as far as I am conserned. Now if you can play FarCry with settings ramped to max on 1280x1024 or even 1024x768 at say... 30fps .. i'd be very impressed. Even on paper, other than the theoretical advantage of hardware DX9 support the GF4Ti's will give it a serious licking. Note that the DX9 support is by far and large just an advantage other cards have -- not a requirement -- yet (i.e., like Silent HIll 3-- that requires DirectX8.1 support). This means that frame for frame, quality for quality, my GF4Ti4600 will own that GFX5200 left right and center -- even in DX9 games.

they are good cards and the will live forever
Not a chance.... considering the stuff I've said above, and that technology always gets better ... nothing lasts forever.

exactly...it looks like the FX5200 series hit the wallets of wannabe gamers. cuz everytime i tell someone that there 5200 is gonna need to be upgraded they tell me "i just bought it...it might not be the most $$$$ card but it'll last me a long time." which isnt true if you want to be playing games in new 2004-2005. technology grows so fast your lucky if your dcomputer can go 6 months without ONE part being "out of date."

which isnt true if you want to be playing games in new 2004-2005.
God yeah, my Ti46 will last me until D3/HL2 become the "standard" level of games.... as it is my spec ... well it chokes to crap (i.e., 20fps high and a low of -8fps, all at 800x600, normal settings heehee -- not to mention the memory whore they will-be/are)
