how many hdds ?

how many hard drives can you actually have in a computer ? ( it might seem like a dumb question and i think you can have as much as you like, whatever will fit in) but i wasnt quite sure also if you have a lot of hard drives in your computer will this effect the way your computer runs and how your other components run ?
 
About as many as you want, what will Windows do if you go over 26? 26 letters in the Alphabet. It will affect your computer not very much.
 
I think the limit actually is 26, just because that is the number of letters in the alphabet, and most people don't get near it.

I however, use 4-5 on a regular basis, plus a couple of DVD burners, plus A: drive for floppy, and another couple when I hook up a flash drive and an iPod.
 
it is easy to get pass 26 on a high end server... i have more than 26 but i dont run them together because i dont want to hear all of them during the start up and shutdown process kind of annoying.
 
why the **** would you need so many hardrives ? are they all little or are they all like a couple of hundred gigs ?

What do they name the drives after you surpass 26?
