how many sticks of ram

noob question: how many sticks of ram do you need inorder for your computer to run? as in a mobo with 4 dimm sockets
 
it'll work with 1, but running 2 sticks would double your bandwidth because of how dual channel works. put both sticks in the same color slots. if slots 0 and 2 are blue and slots 1 and 3 are yellow, then put them in either 0 and 2 or 1 and 3, not 0 and 3 or 1 and 2.
