How much can I get for my computer?

I'm just wondering how much I could get with this.

Windows XP Home Edition
Intel Celeron D 2.93 GHz
2x 512mb (pc2700)
Radeon 9250 (PCI)
100 GB Harddrive
CD-RW/DVD Drive
Internal Flash Media Card Reader/Writer

Make sure you find a buyer without much knowledge in computing.

To me a second hand machine is pretty much worthless. You don't know how many sectors are corrupt and how many pins were bent back when the CPU was inserted.

You can check for bad sectors...Even still a bad sector isn't all that bad, jsut have they be skipped in reading and writing, also unless you plan on taking the cpu in and out all the time I dont see what a bent back into position pin is all that bad. Sure it's better to have a comptuer without these things, but in reality its not that big a difference.

Bad sectors on a drive are a warning sign, it may give any day...you simply cannot tell. While some drives last years if you section it off...others might last hours before corrupting the entire drive. Since there is no way to be sure, your safest bet is to stick with one that has 0 previous problems, the liklihood of it failing compared to one already in the first stages of failing, is much less.
(I say this, knowing my GF's HDD's both have bad sectors, and have had them for about a year now. They occasionally crash, and you must run CHKDSK to get them woring again...but I've never had to re-format her. It's a pain, but they haven't failed completely yet.)

I agree with the $200-300 price, about right. You can always sucker someone into paying more...but that's not very nice :D I try to sell things at a discount to friends and family, as later on they usually return the favor.

Those are just a few examples. But there are so many other hardware issues that you can't really test. Well.. you probably can, but for a $300/400 computer it's not worth it.

Such fine circuitry, you never know what's broken and what's not. Buying all the parts brand new and building it yourself with precision and care is the way I'd go about it. Only time I'd ever buy a second hand machine is to either practice building with or use as a very basic server that's kept on 24/7.

Course, with the will and all... ;)

It was just my opionoin, the only new part I have EVER bought for my computer was one CPU. Just one CPU(My current one) The only thing i had a problem with was a video card, which had a bad RAM. IME Used works good :)
