How Much Memory for AMD processor

Does the AMD use 4GB memeory if installed?? I thought I read something that stated AMD processors uses maximum of just over 2GB so anything over this value is useless. Is this true???
 
Unless you are making this computer a dedicated server, 4GB of DDR is pointless and you will see no performance gain compared to say 2GB (at least not a difference worth the price of the extra 2GB) in games. Even video/photo editing, CAD, programs will run fine with an FX processor and 2GB of RAM.
