How much ram?

How much ram is recommended for good gaming? (figuring in virus programs and things like that running in the background)

1gb or 2gb. I would recommend about 1.5gb, although you shouldn't get that. Go with 2gb if your budget can support it.

the more the better in the case of ram...but i think 2gb will be WAY more then enough for your gaming..i have 1gb as u can see and i play games like Oblivion while running virus scans and programs such as azureus and limwire at the same time...i get good performance but MINOR lag and freeze at some points, so i would go for the 2gb if you can afford it...BUT dont forget that getting good latency 1gb ram is better then terrible latency 2gb ram (get dual channnel OC ram) for better performabce

Maybe if it was terrible latceny, but lets take regular DDR for example, 3.0 is high 2.0 is low and 2.5 is regular, the price vs performace would be much better getting 2.5 latceny of 2GB rather then 2.0 1GB anyday.

I only have 1GB of CL2 OCZ RAM and I don't have any problems with either Vista or playing any cool games. I'm poor though. Robbing old ladies and blind people is slim pickings these days and my parents won't buy me shit. :(

I would get two (GB), but all the RAM within twenty miles of me is either 133MHz SDRAM or 533MHz DDR2. Doesnt help me when im stealing from other people's computers. I would have to reccomend two of the best stuff you can afford.
