How much space do I/you really need?

I got about 30 gigs used right now with loads of music, a few games and quite a few programs, but I am on dial up.

I will have broadband next week and I will start building a new PC, is 250gigs enough? I will be downloading alot of music, movies and such and I plan on installing many games.

How big is your HDD? How much of it do you use and what is in it?

I process prolly about 1TB a month of RAW format AVI for encoding to various formats (work/project related). Throw in a few hundred gigs of downloads....

funny thing that HD space is, the more you have the mroe you end up using. I never had space problems on my old 1GB drive...

I've got one 120 and one 200 Gb HD. Filled about 60 GB before I got adsl, and then filled up those 60 in less than a week. >_<
But I doubt I'll fill up both. Got plenty of space left.
I'd go with about 3-400. If you run out of space, you can always backup most information that you won't be using a lot.

LOL so true... you still have that thing lying around? ;)

I do, and it still works. It's got some sort of 512KB video card, 48MB RAM and an evergreen 233MMX processor

Windows XP can take up like 2GB on its own now, everything gets bigger. ~4GB for KOTOR2, everything just takes up more space.

well yea i have xp, prolly 8.5GB of games 10GB of music and the occasionl .mp2 and .mpv which take up a fair bit. but i mean what is it you download that takes up space

nothing, believe it or not I download very little. Game patches, occasional bit of freeware and every now and then when a full game version is released over the internet I sometimes download them.
