How much worse does the 3850 perform then the 3870?

How much worse does the 3850 perform then the 3870. Will the 3850 still be able to play games better then my 8800GTS 320MB?

Well.. the 3870 performs with the 8800GT. I would say the 3850 would still be an upgrade from a 320mb GTS. From what i have seen anyway.

The 3870 and 3850 use the same core. But the 3870 has GDDR4 memory thus it can clock higher.

So I would say the HD3850 performs about the same as the 8800GTS 320MB if not a little better. But I've heard that with good cooling, you can overclock the HD3850 close to HD3870 speeds which would easily let the 8800GTS 320MB down.

3850 is a good card. i think for the money you should skip the 3870 and get the 8800gt 512mb instead. it definitely beats the 3870.

I'm more than happy with the HD3870! I went from 25fps on oblivion on low to 60+fps on high, what else could I ask?
