How much would it cost to put Windows XP/Vista onto a EEPC?

Don't want to argue but can't stand by while misinformation is being bandied about.

That Celeron processor is plenty powerful enough. Here are the requirements for XP:

The minimum hardware requirements for Windows XP Home Edition are:

Pentium 233-megahertz (MHz) processor or faster (300 MHz is recommended)
At least 64 megabytes (MB) of RAM (128 MB is recommended)
At least 1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available space on the hard disk
CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive
Keyboard and a Microsoft Mouse or some other compatible pointing device
Video adapter and monitor with Super VGA (800 x 600)or higher resolution
Sound card
Speakers or headphones

Netbooks easily exceed these requirements.

So do most of the desktops that came out with XP installed but then again, most ran slow as a snail with only 512mb ram. And it gets even slower the more software you install and have run at boot up.

For the record:

The 7xx series ran windows XP just fine with the 900mhz celeron and 512mb of ram. No, it won't run crysis, but it will browse the internet and stuff with ease. I played around with these things extensively when they first came out (I worked in a computer store), Windows XP is snappy on them (fresh install of windows, not a bunch of crap installed)

The 9xx Series will run windows 7 just fine. Of course they're no i7, but they're not slow as long as Windows is installed fresh and not a ton of crap is put on. I own a 900HA and it's had Win 7 Ultimate on it since windows 7 came out, and is entirely usable. Windows XP runs mint on this model.

*Note: There were certain models with insanely slow SSD drives, I think they were only in a couple 9" models though, and obviously models with HDD's weren't affected.

As for the OP, I'd expect to pay between $100-$150 for that service. If you had a spare copy of windows XP lying around it would be cheaper.
