I have my own machine however my mom and sister use an old compaq machine for the internet and microsoft word, my sister often sneaks in my room when Im not home and goes on my computer because she complains the old one is too slow. Since I don't want her sneaking in my room and sometimes bugging me to use my computer, how much would performance would I get from increasing the ram from its original 64mb to 192mb by adding a 128mb stick of sdram(I opened it up and it has 2 empty ram slots):
750mhz intel celeron
64mb of sdram
8mb TNT graphics
20gb HD
Windows ME
Before I pursuade them to give me money to upgrade their computer I want to make sure it will give them a noticeable boost.

At that level I think you would get a pretty big boost by adding 128mb of ram to it. 64 ram sounds really low to me. Now dont expect the computer to be fast afterward. It will make a big difference but that a old machine and just dont have a lot of power behind it.

Tripling the memory will definitely be a booster although its hard to say what exactly the bottleneck is, wteher it be the memory or not.
