Haya noob member here just found this forum and was considering buying a new laptop anyone have any idea how good the ASUS brand is

It is a great brand. Every company has it's flaws, but i've used an asus Eee Pc before, worked great. I have an ASUS dvd burner, never failed. I have an ASUS motherboard, no problem.

Thanks its a toss up between a HP Pavilion dv7-1003tx Core Duo P9400 4GB 320GBx2 or ASUS G70S not sure what to with

Asus is great, but support is terrible. Responses are in broken english, as are the manuals.

Also, their website is SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW so so so so slow

I've had 2 HP machines and while the first one was OK the second one (which was a dv6330ea) is rather flaky, HDD squeal, DVD burner which occasionally opens on its own plus since a BIOS update the HDD gets really hot!

Might just be me though...

i've been using an asus p5k-e/wifi for a while now and the thing has never even flinched despite all the failed overclocking attempts i have made, and all the abuse from moving from house to house. i highly recommend their products to anyone

I would get the g70 from asus..

the support is great..not poor as mentioned and their 2-year global warranty is fully supported.

cheers.

you simply cannot go wrong with purchasing Asus products...theyre build to last.

their parts and stuff are usualy a tad bit more expensive than its competitors but thats what you pay for the better quality. :)

when i do a new build im thinking of using more Asus components.

MORE HELP lol

Also was talking to my computer guy and he reckoned i should even try a ACER what do you guys think???

Also is it worth bothering to put XP back on to the system or run Windows Vista???

windows vista. its what pretty much everyone uses now. Acer's are ok, i owned a laptop, but it ended up having battery troubles, as any laptop will eventually i think.

I have an Asus laptop and have had very little problems with it. My motherboard went bad but Asus replaced it at no charge to me (under warranty) and I was out of commission for about a few days. Not bad at all. I would highly reccomend Asus as a laptop brand. Top notch on all aspects, from what I've experienced anyway.

Haha I didn't realize you already made the purchase..whoops!
