How safe is it to buy refurbished?

refurbished computers still go through the same testing as new computers. i read an article in PC Mag a couple months ago that said refurbished products are just as good as new products. idk though, i think in the end it's going to be whatever gut feeling you have

Thanks for the input. That's good to know. I lean toward getting a refurbished one. I just didn't know if there were red flags I needed to be aware of.

For some reason I have this fear that the screen will die on me and render the laptop pretty useless. It happened to me back in 1995 with a Toshiba laptop. I remember it had a whopping 500MB hard drive and lightning fast 100 MHz processor. :D But I think we have come farther in technology now, to where that doesn't happen THAT often, right? ;) I hope.
