Hi guys,
How secure is a compressed file that is password protected by winrar? Is it can be crack by anyone with little computer knowledge? or by anyone with programing ability? or have to have the password to open the file?
Thank you.
Paul

Yes ya can with some of the pay software out there. I tried it. Ive had people create pw protected files with zip, Word, rar, excel with uppercase lower case, numbers and didn't make no diff. Took 15 sec's on all of them. Then again its your best shot.

surprised with some of the software out there.

Just for the record this was for testing and had others do it randomly.
Said make the meanest, hardest they could.

Can be done, unless you have reason to suspect it, then I wouldn't worry about it. As mentioned, these programs are hardly obtained without a price.

What is the length of the passwords when they create the file? is it possible to run a test for me?
Thank you.

My older ver is 127 characters. numbers, symbols, letters and caps. I would not worry about it and never did. I was always Just curious. don't use zip for long passwords. use rar.

99% of people would not have a clue or success rate so i would not worry about people cracking your password.
I have came across a lot of people who say they can but when it came to the acid test they failed.
This is my opinion only.
