i have a real old school networking cable, should i buy a newer one thats faster?

or should i just do wireless?



can anyone suggest some good solid wires? nothing too fancy and nothing too cheap?




would cat 5 be ok?

Wired would definitely be faster. How long of a cable do you need? Just go to a local store that sells computer stuff and it should have ethernet cables.
 
12 feet is like 4 meters or so right? Just get a cat5e cable and you're fine. If the price difference isn't that big you can justify a cat6 cable. But that really wouldn't get you any faster speeds right now.

Cat6 might provide 10gbit support. But that's not certain.
