How to block IP address

You mean block your computer from sending to a certain IP? I dont think it's possible in Windows, but it most likely is an option on your router.

I want to block skype.
It's pain to do that. I found that it uses certain IP address for authentication so I figured -no authentication, no skype-
I did try my router and there is option to block web sites by name, but no IP address.

Oh thats strange, both my modem and router allow you to block IP's.

Are you trying to block skype from just one PC/account, or from everyone on the network?

If its just one PC, why not just disable Skype from running, or block the outgoing port that Skype uses? I can't recall the program name, but I believe there is a program that will do both those things. If I remember the name, i'll post it here.

The thing is, that it must be something more complicated.
My nephew is spending like 5 hours every day on skype, and he can just reenable it in firewall.

...Firewalll.... firewalll..... firewall.... :p

Thats why there are firewall passwords ;) If, as yer suggesting, complication isnt an issue, locking down the workstation + firewall access password is a pretty good bet!

The thing is that it is his computer.
His parents asked me to do something with that (5h).
So something he won't be able to figure out (because everything else is good and as before).

A firewall would work, but I was thinking of something more towards the administrative side, which would be alot harder for someone to figure out.
If his parents say "here's a computer, lock it down, go". Then a firewall + windows security policy is pretty damn good.

Like I mean, the only thing that's gonna get around a well fortified system is a reformat and even THAT can be locked down with BIOS protection + Deepfreeze lol

If you process-lock Skype, then how is skype gonna start? :P That and if you lock out TCP/UDP access then how's it gonna see anything? :P

When i say firewall i mean a REAL firewall like Sunbelt (aka Kerio) or Sygate ;)

I think that when you block default skype tcp it'll search for any open one...
Evidently, you missed what I meant. When you process-block something, that process cannot start. I.e You cannot run Skype at all, period (the only way to run it, is by deactivating the firewall, but that can be safeguarded against).

Furthermore when i said lockout TCP/UDP access i meant locking out the entire protocol, not just a specific port.
