how to bypass password

my dad works at a school and he brought home a computer from there that they weren't using anymore. when i boot it up, it asks for a password. is there any way to bypass that?

Its a bit risky.... have you tried just turning it off then back on, whatever you do dont keep putting passwords in or it might bust it.... Cant you just get the password from your dads work?

thanks for the replies. i can't even go into safe mode. it's not windows that's asking for the password. i think the bios is asking for a password before it even attempts to boot up. i can see how helping me would break the rules since it can seem like i'm trying to break into someone else's computer, but i'm not. the school was throwing away some old computers so my dad just decided to take one home.
