I have a cable plugged into my one and only serial port in the back of my computer. I'd like to know which com port it is and find a way to see if it detects the cable I have plugged into it.
I'm trying to program a ham radio using a cable that plugs into the radio and plugs into the serial port on the back of my computer. My computer does not see my radio. I don't know if my cable is bad or if I'm not using the right com port. The radio program needs to know what com port you are using, 1-XXX. I have no idea what com port # I'm plugged into and if it even works.
Is there any way I can test all this and know what com port is what? Thanks
