How to communicate to port 70

Hiya

I've just recently bought a server for my LAN and I've rather stupidly changed the communication port to 70 (from port 80 which is http) and there's no physical reset button on the unit which will restore all the settings.

When I go to access it all which is displayed is "this page cannot be found" through internet explorer.

Please help! I'm desperate!!

You're a star! I did actually try that but never put the http:// in front of it which is why it didn't work for me. Many thanks for that.

Now that I've got that working, I wonder if you could help me with this problem :) .

The server is for an IP camera and all I'm trying to do is to set it up so I can view it from anywhere on the internet; but having some difficulty!

The internal address for the camera is 192.168.0.6
I'm using a netgear DG834G router.
The dynamic address I've got for my router is http://mikewillans.homeip.net .

What kind of settings do I need to enter into this box?

Plug the camera into your router and assign it a 192.168.0.xxx IP. Assign it a static route in the router, IP subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Name the route camera or something like that.

Now you can type in the IP that your ISP provides you and you should be able to view your camera.

I've just tried doing that but still nothing, just times out on me.

Really annoyed by it now, going to see if anyone at work can help me with this if I enable remote management of my router etc...
 
Hmmm. Did you try kicking it in the nuts? That might work. :P

What brand and model is your camera? Is there any chance it is a Dlink? Maybe I can come up with something, but no promises.
 
Aww bless ya!

I've had just had a word with the techy guys at work (one of them has the same router as me) and they've told me to fiddle with the 'services' menu to route port 9001 to somewhere which I quite don't understand but I do know what he means haha.

I've been extremely stupid and forgot to enable remote management on my router before I left for work so can't do it until I get back from work grrrrrr:mad:
