Hey,

i have about 4 computers which all connect to the same ip address. however, when i try to see other computers on the network from ANY of the computers, nothing shows up except the computer im on at the time. The computers are vista 32 bit, xp pro, xp home. I have all public sharing and network discovery turned on on the vista. I thought xp just had network discovery on by default, but i could be wrong.

Is there any reason the computers cannot discover each other (I turned on remote desktop is accepted through firewall setting)??

any helpful input is appreciated

Ensure the following:

File sharing is enabled on a folder and is shared

you are all on the same subnet, ie 192.168.1.100, 192.168.1.101 and so forth

That all client machines are part of the same workgroup.

ok, i've got filesharing enabled on my vista, but im not too sure how to enable it on an xp home or xp pro computer. i will check the subnet gatway to make sure they are all on the same one. and if by workgroup you mean lan connection, then they are all connected to the same workgroup.

Easiest way is use a router and set up DHCP, then they will all be on the same network.
