How To Cope Without

Looking like with the price of video games going up and the fact that all my money goes towards rent and bills I figure I'll never be able to afford a new computer. I got my laptop for now and its decent but I know in another 10 years it'll be old technology and wont be able to play newer games. I already got hundreds of games for my laptop to the point Im running out of hard drive space so maybe I should be happy with what I got. But I do worry what if some new game comes out and I really want it but my computer cant handle it because its so old. I just cant cope without technology.

Always kinda felt that was the advantage of a 'build it yourself' rig, it's just a constant evolution. Some plays or parts you can stretch way longer than others, for example my board is over 9 years old now.

Prices are suckier but they aren't unobtainable. Gravitating around current console-ish specs seems like the reasonable cost/perf floor to me since most games are designed around those performance targets.

Otherwise I feel like gaming stuff still provides a pretty decent cost to entertainment ratio, even just going out to eat with a date is the price of a new release.

Hoping that since most of what I play are older games on emulator I can still get several more years out of my laptop. I would like to build my own gaming setup but sadly with the price of computer parts going up and all my money going toward rent and bills I will never be able to do so. Also there are other forms of entertainment besides video games like watching video on TV. I recently got a streaming stick for my old TV. My TV may not be 4k but at least its HD I guess. Now that I got a streaming stick I am able to watch YouTube and tubi on my tv which is free. Still I feel so old fashion not being able to afford new technology anymore. But maybe some of the best technology is older technology.

The only way I'll be able to save that much money in that amount of time is to get a second job. I tried working 2 jobs but too stressful and dont really want to do that again. Not sure how I can make more money without a second job though.
