How to create a bootable CD?

I wish to make a bootable CD onto which to install a RAM testing program (if a program freeware only...I will not be doing it a whole lot). I do NOT want to install the whole Windows 10 ISO system to the CD...I only want it to boot from the CD when I turn on the computer with that CD in the drive (I know about going into the BIOS and changing the boot order, etc.).

I only need to know how to make the CD bootable, step-by-step (I am old, generalities will only confuse me.).

You need to download the RAM test software as an ISO. There are a couple here:- https://www.lifewire.com/free-memory-test-programs-2626178 Burn the downloaded ISO to a CD or DVD using a free burner such as CDBurnerXP from here:- https://cdburnerxp.se/en/download Then insert your new CD/DVD and turn your computer off. Turn your computer on and it should boot from the CD/DVD. Use the program. I am assuming your computer has been set to boot from a CD/DVD or that you know how to set it to boot from a CD/DVD.

I downloaded MemTest86 ISO and tried to burn it to a CD. However, the download is zipped and when I unzip it is not clear what ISO file that I need to download. When I attempt to burn the whole file to a CD, the burner tells me it can not open the file due to the format (zip?)...it will not let me navigate inside the zipped memtest86-iso folder. I need more clear instructions.

The URL I gave you only tells you what free memory test programs are available. the download for Memtest is here:- https://www.memtest86.com/download.htm

It is not zipped and should just burn to a DVD using CdBurner XP. It works for me but I'm afraid that is as far as I can go with my explanations. Maybe someone else can make it clearer for you.

That IS the site from which I downloaded memtest86. It DOES download to my computer as a zipped file. "Type: Compressed (zipped) Folder"
Maybe someone else can help me...someone who actually does it, documents it as they do it, rather than posting it from memory. In the three times, I have downloaded it (from https://www.memtest86.com/download.htm) it puts a zipped folder in my downloads folder.

It works for me and quite frankly your attitude stinks. I sincerely hope that no-one else gives you the time of day. Good bye, as far as I am concerned you are on your own.

The file that is downloaded is memtest86-iso.zip. Inside the zipped file is the iso file Memtest86-7.4.iso.

Extract iso file from zip
1. Open memtest86-iso.zip with Windows Explorer
2. Select file Memtest86-7.4.iso with cursor
3. Right-click on file
4. Select Copy
5. Click up arrow in Windows Explorer to back out of zip file
6. Right-click and select Paste

Extract iso file from zip (alternate way)
1. Open memtest86-iso.zip with Windows Explorer
2. Select file Memtest86-7.4.iso with cursor
3. With the cursor on the file hold down the left mouse button
4. Continuing to hold down the left mouse button move the cursor to some other location. For example, the desktop.
5. Release the left mouse button. The file should be extracted.

To burn it with CDBurnerXP
1. Run CDBurnerXP
2. Select Burn ISO image
3. Browse to file Memtest86-7.4.iso
4. Click on Burn disc button
