How to Create a DVD-Video from avi and mpeg

I have Nero 6 (or if I need something else it's fine) and I want to burn avi and mpeg files on a DVD so it can be read on my DVD Player. It would be cool if i could do just like a S-VCD with a menu and stuff, but since its a DVD, I cant. Any idea???
 
i use dvd santa but it takes like 3 hours per file and some files dont work right so i convert them to a useable format with media converter... just to tell you dvd santa isnt freeware and when it convers it will put a bar that says "converted with dvd santa" on it unless you buy it
