How to create network backup drive?

Hi Everyone

I was hoping to get some advise. I wanted to create a backup hard drive for two computers. I did not want to buy two extermal drives for my two computers. I wanted to create a cheaper solution over a netowork using 10/100 either net .

would that require an expensive aditional computer or is there some kind of simpler device like a USB drive or something?

So you want to back up to a USB you are asking? Or you want to know a way?

I'd go for a portable harddrive or NAS. Some people still use magnetic tape. What is the backup for, is it office, or home? also how much do you need to back up?
