How to crop a video???

Hi guys,

I took a screen capture of my desktop (.wmv format) and was wondering if there is a way I can cut out parts of the screen from the video. For example, I want to eliminate the taskbar from the bottom of the video and my browser toolbar from the top of the video. Is this possible?

If not, is there software so i can simply black out certain parts of the screen?

I would be willing to install any free software that may be required

Thank you!

You can use windows movie maker and overlay something over the things you want to black out.

This sounds good - but I can't find the option? Can you direct me to a tutorial please?

edit: I have Windows Live Movie Maker than came with Win7. It seems like they took all the features out in this version?

I haven't used windows movie maker in a while. Can you put two videos ontop of each other (like in 2 layers)? If so, just make the top layer a black stretched out box that goes over whatever you want to cover.

Sorry I can't go into more detail. I use Adobe Premier CS5 for all video editing. You can download the free 30 day trial for that and easily crop the video if you want to.

Thank you very much for the input - I will see what I can do :D

A free video converter absolutely help you with this. The build-in edit function can crop or trim your video.:)
