AVG was running today and found a virus or maybe two. I waited for the scan to complete and then tried to delete the virus. I tried moving it to the vault but couldn't figure out how. can anyone give me a step by step way on how to delete it?

Once a virus or malware is quaranteened it is compressed into an archive. You should be able to go right the file specified by AVG and choose the delete option in the right click menu and then empty the recycle bin afterwards to see that gone. If that brings up a can't delete message something is still active and needs to be shutdown. Then you would need to pst a HiJack This log here for examination.

Did you browse to where the file was with Windows Explorer or try right clicking while AVG was open? You should be able to simply drag it to the recycle bin once you have shutdown AVG through the taskmanager to end all processes seen there. Otherwise you will run into the "already in use by another program" type error. Booting in safe mode is another option if you still have problems. Did AVG give you a name for this?

AVG has always been good for finding things but sometimes lacks in the removal dept.! Once you know the file name and location you can usually remove it by unloading AVG or booting up in safe mode to try running AVG again or for manual deletion. Another that works great is Trend Micro's antivirus tools that will uninstall AVG when it goes on. Once you have the "bugs" removed you can go back to AVG if needed. If you still get stumped post a HiJack This log to see if there are any registry values seen.
