A couple weeks ago I downloaded a free version of AVG as I need to have some sort of anti-virus software on my computer so I can remotely connect to my work computer. However, this version of AVG is apparently insufficient because when I try to connect, I was getting a message saying my computer's anti-virus software was insufficient. Now I've downloaded a company version of McAfee, so I tried to delete the AVG software and about half way through the removal I get an error message saying the program could not be deleted. It also said I may not have the authority to delete the program...WHAT THE HELL KIND OF PROGRAM IS THIS THAT TELLS ME WHAT I CAN AND CAN'T DELETE FROM MY COMPUTER? How do I get rid of this software?

Use the avg removal tool.

However, a lot of times it doesn't work properly. I would suggest using revo uninstaller to totally get rid of it.

After trying to uninstall, it will scan your system for leftover entries, make sure you select to delete them.
