How to destroy a hard drive

there are ways to get data even off of destroyed hard disks. I had a client some years back who designed high end engines for racing boats. he had a laptop that would graph data from the boat while testing it on the waters. He once dropped it overboard, and I was able to get his data using a company called drive savers.

Take a look at the link above. There are ways to get your data even if something really bad happens to the hard drive.

well unless its information that is going to change the world in some way or could be critical to something very important, i dont think people are going to spend thousands of dollars to steal information from a local citizen

a buddy of mine I used to work with is a system's admin for a company that finances credit cards, and credit accounts. The data he backs up is worth millions of dollars.

imagine how much money you could end up with if you tampered with that info. it's alot of work though unless you know EXACTLY what you're doing
