How to disable onbroad sound?

Hey Guys!

I currently bought a Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic OEM. I plugged it in my PCI slot and install the driver, but it have no sound.

Then I look into the user manaual online, it say I need to disable the onbroad sound, and the details need to look at my MB's user guide. However, I still don't know how after reading MB manual:confused:

Can anyone tell me how to do?

MB: GA-P965-DS3
 
Well you dont have to, but theres no harm it doing it. There are two ways.

First, you can go into the BIOS by pressing F2 or DEL on startup, and look for a way to disable it there, or go into the device manager and disable the onboard sound.

I found the onboard one have been disabled. But I recieved no sound from the Creative one...
Do you know how to install it? I am not sure if I have missed some step.
 
If you have installed it go to Control Panel, Sound and Audio Devices. Then click on the Audio tab, then in the drop down menus make sure the creative one is selected.

If you don't see it there you need to install it.

I did go to the Sound & Audio deviceds and check that. NO SOUND!!!!!
I do not blame my speaker as it work when i switch back to the onboard one...
I may need to get it refund, I really doubt if it is the problem of the sound card itself.
 
I installed it.
When I right click at the properties on my computer, it show a list of hardware.
I found both creative SB X-Fi & Realtek High Definition Audio.
Then, I make sure the Realtek is disabled and Creative SB enable.
Go back to Control panel as you say, choose all option to SB X-Fi Audio. But still no sound when I play music. (I do get to the player to check if I am using SB X-Fi) There is a option for testing within the Sound and Audio Devices, and no sound at all....
 
Try going to the control panel in windows and enabling it, you should be able to select between your sound card and on board sound. The right port should be a light green, that is most common if more than one colored opening.

Sorry, didn't see other posts. Speakers need to be plugged in? Windows volume on? Try other speakers?

Speakers plugged in. Window volumn on.
By the way, there is no point for me to try other speaker, because when I switch back to my onboard one, I have sound!!!
Only problem I could think of is sound card's fault.
