How To Do Drivers?

The last question i have about building my own gaming rig is probably the most important. How do i install the drivers to make absolutely sure my computer is up and running without any hitches. Are there certain steps i need to follow in order to make sure this install runs clean, or will the computer direct me through all the driver install steps i need to make absolutely sure i get all of them in and running. I have been reading that so many gaming rigs have been delayed by bad driver installs. Any direction will be much appreciated.

Windows will install drivers for what it knows. You have to install the other drivers windows does not catch.

Your motherboard should come with a CD. Once windows is installed, just pop in that CD and install all the software. It is usually for such things as chipset, onboard LAN, sound, etc. For video drivers, go to the manufacturer site (ATI or nVidia) and download the latest drivers.

Thanks. I was pretty sure they provided me with all the devices to get it installed, i've just read some pretty horrible driver stories.

Well when you have just the OS installed, you don't need to worry about the need to reinstall windows if something bad happens.

if for some reason windows misses some, you can always use a program like drivermax to help find any unknown ones.
