How to Figure PS Requirement

How do u figure how much power is required to run ur system. My new system has what is listed below plus pata hd (200), floppy and 2 ide dvd burners. I hardly ever play games but might start playing a little more now that I have more speed; so my question how much pwr do I need or how to figure it.

U didn't answer my question but just tried to sell me one of yours; there's got to be a logical way to figure it out.

Look up the specs for each piece of hardware and look for the max wattage or max power requirements for each device. Then add them up.

There are a number of PSU calculators online that can make this task easier, but I suggest taking those recommendations with a grain of salt. They can provide good information, but are not always accurate. Video card manufacturers will also typically quote a PSU recommendation for an average system with their card. I have collated the official recommendations for current generation cards at http://www.computerforum.com/90110-power-recommendations-video-card.html

Based on ur figures how much more would the typical setup require, say 8600 gt=20a, then 2 dvd burners, floppy, and hd. Don't imagine the usb ports would require a lot of amps. I have not been able to find the amp requirement on the dvd devices but the hd says 1500Mamps and thanks for ur help.

The 20A recommendation is for an entire (typical) system including an 8600GT, not just for the card.
