I asked this question to some professional flight instructor's forum, and got yelled upon by people who claim to be real-life boeing 777 flight-instructors.
One even commented "kids like you who think you can fly for 2 weeks in a simulator and then fly a real 777 make me ROFL!"
Probably I chose the wrong forum, or probably the captain had a fight with his wife and was having a bad day in general -- but that's not at all what i intended to ask. I am more than sure that playing video games like this for even a whole year won't make me able enough to fly in real life, i don't want to apply what i learn in a video game, to a real life aircraft (even if i wanted to, no one would allow me to operate a billion dollar beast with no formal training from a flight school lol
)
All I want to know, is how to make this work in the simulator (video game).
The problem is, it appears that the game manufacturers assume i already know how to fly.
The flight manual gives instructions like,
** "Compensate for air pressure/ speed, and adjust flap configuration for current airspeed conditions."
** "Fly to xyz KT and then Rotate".
***"Arm the A/T and select an IAS from AP settings".
***"Make sure to initialize the Initial Reference System before taking off".
***"Configure route manager before enabling LNAV."
***"Turn APU off if engines are producing enough power"
***"Turn RAM Air turbine on, if backup power supply fails.
***"Avoid wind-shears, use the on-board weather radar to re-route in case of thunderstorms.
***"Make sure you use the IAS/Mach crossover correctly.
***"Reduce speed at final approach"
***"Apply reverse-thrusters after touch-down".
***"Make sure you're cleared for landing before attempting to land the aircraft".
***Make sure you follow the pre-flight checklist before attempting to take off.
***"Avoid sharp bank angles while flying airliners".
and bla bla bla....
As you can see, it's almost impossible for someone who doesn't know how to fly for real, to understand these instructions.
But then, i realllly realllllllllllly love the graphics, and would really want to learn to work with this simulator (in the game, not real life)
I've even purchased two joysticks!!
But I can hardly fly at all.. 9 out of ten times, something would go wrong.
A voice would day "Stall", or "Too low", or "Traffic", or "Bank angle", or "Sink rate", or "Terrain Terrain,, Pull up Pull up", I would lose control of the flight and in would start flying on it's own, till the voices stop. I get control back, only after the voices stop.
The joystick, at times, would begin to vibrate on its own, like the vibration mode of your cell phone.
So, where do i start from? How do i learn to operate the simulator?
Is there a less challenging flight-sim game out there? If yes, then please give me a link to download..
