How to get in past old passwords

I'm not quite sure where to put this, but as the core issue seems to be one of how to upload XP again and reformat the computers, I'm putting my post in under operating systems.

We recently bought a couple of Dell GX520 units from a business that went into bankruptcy and sold off all of its equipment. Neither unit came with DVD/CD burners on board, as they were all obviously networked. We picked up both units pretty cheap with the idea of setting each one up for our young kids to use in their rooms for games, school work, etc. With that in mind we were going to buy some DVD burners to slot inside each one.

Now for our problem. Every time we start either unit up, we get prompted to put in passwords that were obviously used by the former users. How do we get past this so we can upload XP again (once we have the burners installed) and start from scratch?

Thanks in advance

If its a bios password, just reset the bios by taking the motherboard battery out for a minute, off and unplugged. If its a windows password, your saying your going to reinstall the OS after you put dvd drives in them, just boot the the OS cd/dvd, delete the partition, create a new one and install.

Cant tell you how to bypass Windows password. If your reinstalling it doesnt matter.;)

Hi again

Yes, I meant the Windows password.

I was hoping that the suggestion you made would be the appropriate one - just couldn't test it out yet until I installed the new DVD burners.

Thank you for your help.
