How to go about moving OS to new harddrive on same machine?

So Im planning on possibly getting an SSD and throw my OS onto it to make it a boot drive.

Is there anyway I can move my OS from my harddrive to the SSD without having to reformat disks, or using installation discs?

If it helps I do have a 750GB external harddrive and 2 spare computers if I would need any of that to aid in doing this.

My OS is Windows 7 Home Edition.

You get a better result on the SSD if you do a fresh install. Otherwise if you really don't want to do that there's a guide here:
