How to install the latest directx drivers

Hello all. I'm trying to play CoD: MW2 and when I try to run it, it says:

"Directx has encountered an unrecoverable error. See the Readme for error details"

I've asked on other sites, and so far I've reinstalled the game, verified the game integrity through steam, and went into C:\programs\steam\steamapps\common\call of duty: mw2\redist\directx and ran the DXSETUP.exe in that folder and installed the driver. But it still gives me the same error.

How can I go about removing whatever version of Directx I have and installing the new one? And what is the latest driver? Thanks.

if you run windows update it will prompt you to install the latest DX in the optional software section. If not you can go to microsoft.com and search for directX and install it that way. I believe 11 is the latest for Win7

When I go into Directx section on dxdiag, it says I have directx 11 installed.

what version of DX does the game call for, i think you might be able to install 10 on there as well.

It requires an earlier version of DX, v9 I believe and you can download more than one version of Direct X.
