Ive got a computer a friend brought to me.It powers up fine and I can hear windows downloading but there is nothing on the screen. The onboard video died years ago and a new video card was installed and now its dead.Big gamer and heat.

Ive got a old video card laying around but how can I get the software installed for it if I can't see the screen?

well, it should be Plug and play...meaning that you just need to take the computer arpart, put the graphics card in, plug the monitor into that card and boot the pc. it should display everything on the monitor, you can then install the drivers for the card :D

Ive done that and still get a blank screen.

what does the pc do when it boots? does it do anything differently than when it used to? it might not be the video card thats the problem, it might be the motherbaord or another piece of hardware!

IT sounds like it is booting windows fine.Just no video.Strange the monitor has a green light down by the button but when you turn the computer on it seems to be blinking.
