how to install win95a 21 flopy?

i did somthjing stupid i deleted the host of the c drive whatever that was and then told my bro i did somthing and to restart it now the computer dosent start up and i desided to reinstall win95 and i downloaded (torrented) win95a floppy style because the laptop only has floppy on it and i need mega help ill tell you in simple what i need help with

I need somone to tell me how to install windows 95a floppy on a laptop with only floppy and i need to format befor i install windowes 95 on it.

i will be monitering this thread untill i get an answer and have 95 running on my laptop tnx.
 
shouldn't be too hard just make sure the computer is setup to boot from a floppy (make the floppy set from what you downloaded) and put in disk one. It should go into the setup and just follow the instructions.
 
im a retard can you give me step by step stuff like what to do to make it boot from flopp then how to format the hard drive then what files go on disk 1 and so on i need spesifics when it comes to this stuff i cant conects the dots plz realy with steps.
 
If the bios is set to search for a floppy first when turning on the laptop you simply make sure to have a 95 startup floppy in the drive. If any version of Windows newer then 95 was already on the hard drive you will need that version's startup floppy to remove the Fat32 or NTFS partition first. From there you use the Fat16 version of FDisk found on the 95 floppy to partition the drive with a new Fat16 primary followed by using the Format.com command "Format C:/s" to see that formatted and the basic dos system files transferred to the drive. The "SYS C:" command will also work separately if you simply enter the format C: command without the dos switch added.

you got the right idea but the wrong information i need to install windowes 95 from floppys not from cd and i downloaded the floppy version and its a bunch of cab files can you help me with the floppy one not cd rom.
 
You will need to follow the guide there for using fdisk to partition the drive if needed and formatting it with a dos tool provided on the startup floppy. The first of several 95 floppies after that will have the setup.exe file seen where you then simply type setup or setup.exe at the dos prompt to see the installer start up. The rest is done by following the onscreen instructions and the reference for 95/98 installation there. 95 goes on quick after you remember to swap one floppy for the next as you go along.
 
when i try A: Setup it sas starting then it sas perform cheak press enter i press enter then is sas this in the exact words
"please wait while setup initializes."
"cannot creat a temperary directory."
"if you have hpfs or ntfs instaled on your hard drive,
you will need to create an MS-DOS boot partition to setup windowes"

and then it goes back to the A:\> thing and im frustrated.

There you will need an XP startup floppy with an updated drive tool for floppy to remove the current partition and later use the Fat16 version of fdisk to create the new primary needed for 95 to go onto. Not knowing which files offhand go onto floppy #1, #2, #3, etc. you would then trying simply copying all into a folder on the new primary to make the next try at installation. The original floppy set would actually be the best idea for seeing 95 go on if you can locate it in a store that carries old softwares(recycled).
 
this is to complicated eny way to make it more simple and when did linux come into this and is there a version of linux smaler than 300 mb that can be instaled through floppy

ok ... sorry abought yesteday i got emotional lolz it was getting to hard
im gona try again today were can i get this linux utility to make it a fat 16
format

and i would apretiate it if you caould be more specific with stuff like telling me what commantds to type and so on
o... and 1 more thing i didnt mention when i started this is befor i formated with eraser's nuke program i got the setup.exe working and it asked for a command.com file and i tryed putting files on the floppys and it didnt work
i might be in luck because my friend sas he has a 20 flopp set of 95 so im crossing everything i can lolz if it works im gona cry...
 
GParted is simply a Linux drive partitioning tool with some platform independent releases that will work for removing and creating as well as resizing Fat16/32 and NTFS MS type partitions. The errors you saw when trying to install 95 on the drive there point at it having a newer version of Windows already on it at some point. You need to clean that off first in order to create the new Fat16 primary for 95 to install onto. But you don't have a cd drive let alone the cd writer to burn the 35mb iso image onto a cd-r there.

There are small distros like Damsmall and puppy but usually tend to be a little more then 300mb. For most first trying out a live for cd version is the easiest way to get familiar with Linux. As for the command.com file that is put on by way of the format.com file found on the first startup floppy when you use either the "format C:/s" dos command with the switch or "sys C:" command after the drive has a working primary type partition and is formatted. That command copies the command.com along with a pair of other basic dos system files to the drive by way of installing them. You can't simply copy them and expect them to work.
 
ok thx im geting the linux program now and i dont 100% understand what the dos comnds are to get it to install
umm.... whats the file extention on the linux program.tar.gz?
and how do i use this program i am not farmiliar with linux or linux code

Only the live for cd versions can be used for MS partitions since only a few are cross platform capable. This is what I was trying to explain before. You will have to know what was on the drive before trying to install 95. How old is the system and how much memory is available?

There won't be any board, video, or sound drivers for 95 at this late date. A few 3rd party sites like omega.net or guru3D will see video and sound while board drivers for memory controllers and anything onboard won't be found. 98SE would see a better install even on a system with only 128mb or 256mb of ram at this late date. At least you would have a better chance of finding some drivers.
 
when i got the laptop a cople dayes ago it had windowes 95 on it i dont know eny more than that it has 12 mb of ram from hwat my bros frend said and you didnt answer how i use or what file extention the linux program has and can you send me a link to a windowes xp boot disk the one i have sas starting win 95 but the web sas its got dos 95 98 200 me and xp

It sounds like a real laptop there alright. That would be more like 16mb of memory since things go in increments of 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1048(1gb) and so forth. The live for cd version will simply load when you boot with the cd-r due to having it's own auto loader. The floppy files for any Linux drve tools would be for Linux VFat not MS Fat16.

There you are limited to either a 95 startup floppy or a drive tool provided by the manufacturer. WD's DrFat32 obviously won't work there for 16bit however. With that already having a Fat16 primary on it you would simply need to use the "format C:/s" command to reformat the drive and have it remain Fat16 ready for 95 to go on. That will clean off all files even though you can manually delete Windows and all current folders by typing in "deltree windows" to see that directory and all folders inside deleted off of the drive.

The deltree commands insures that any folders inside are removed not just the title directory leaving drive space inaccessible and containing hidden files and sub folders. Being that it is a used until and likely full of clutter a reformat would be advised. That will give you a fresh start there and remove anything that is hampering the installation.
 
i seem to have a big problem then because umm... i used a program called Eraser and created a nuke disk and it whipes the hole computer and so now i have no clue what partition i have on it and it dosent let me tdo the format C:/s because there is no trace of enything ever being on the hard drive
can i fix this with fdisk from my 95 boot floppy
 
Without any partition left on the drive you would type fdisk at the dos prompt to see that utility open up. From there you can see the hard drive detected and choose from a small list of options to create a new single primary. Once that is done you simply exit the fdisk utility and proceed with the "format C:/s" command.

If you still can't enter C: and see the "C:>" dos prompt from the root of the hard drive after you then type the "sys C:" command to see the basic dos system files transferred then. From there 95 should go right on without problems if the floppies are good with all files inttact.
 
fdisk sas that there is a dos partition and i could use the c:> thag from righ after using fdisk after i nuked it but when i try the sys things it sas media not there or somthing and sas rety or abort
plz help...
