How to lower ping

hey all i would like to know if there is a programs or some editing to something to lower my gaming ping mainly COD4.

Go look at the link that Dropkickmurphys posted. It works to my knowledge and it helps a little bit.

Ring your ISP and ask to get Interleaving turned off, this will lower your ping alot.

If you don't know what interleaving is google it.

Reduce any and all system over head by shutting down any process that gets online. Also, stop other machines on your network from running P2P or anything else that could cause traffic issues. Try a different server. Upgrade your service. Update your drivers.

I called my ISP and the guy thought I was talking about something that had to do with the TV. He had no idea what I was talking about. I read on wiki that it was something they used to use in the 90's so would somone like Cox still use it?

I doubt some sys admin is going to reconfigure the network to lower your ping. They run huge switches and lots of fiber, and they are designed to give everyone a balanced connection.
