Hey! I really need a program to make my startup faster, since every time i wanna restart, i have to wait like 10 min so that windows load everything. I do have alot of programs installed on my drive and many need startup, but is there a way to make this faster without removing these softwares from the startup?
thanks.

Go to your start menu, click run, and type "msconfig". When a window pops up click on the tab furthest to the right that says "startup". This menu shows all the programs you have starting up that are not necessary for your computer to run properly...deselect all of them and they will no longer start up when you boot windows, should make things a lot quicker.

What do you mean, it stops all worthless programs from starting when you reboot. You can always run them as you use them after the computer is up and running.

Yes, I would have to agree with Swimfreak....definately run msconfig to disable things from running at startup...and u may want to invest in another stick of 256mb of RAM because XP is a resource hog....in my humble opinion, just to run XP alone takes close to 256 meg's

but what about norton and its applications, symantec netdrive monitor and other imp. windows things? what about office?

Office shouldn't be that much of a concern because if you want to run one of its applications then you could just navigate to the shortcut or whatever setup you have and run it that way.....And I wouldn't recommend disabling your anti-virus from startup (that is if you are using broadband as your connection) it could take less than 4 mins to navigate to a site and receive a virus (this is referred to as a 'drive-by')and if you are concerned about what is actually loading at startup and are unsure of what
what some things are....just google it to see

These you need to consider deleting:

try also disabling a lot of the windows services that start up... if you arent sure about which to enable or diable, select manual... you can fiddle with these settings in start>run> type in services.msc its amazing how useless and resource hogging a lot of these so called services can be...

Sebouth: I gave you a quick list of what you should look at and allow HiJackThis to fix. That was the reason for posting the log wasnt it?

yeh, well you told me to delete some but dunno how, and for example there is the MSI turbo experience which is needed for my fx 5200 video card to work properly adn you said delete it. So what if there are other stuff like this that i need but you dont think i do?

No, I said consider DELETING the top ones. The reason being that, as you said, you might need them, but they are entries HiJackThis does not recognize, and if YOU do not recognize them.. well then they might be harmful.

The last 7, HiJackThis deems "Nasty" and you should REALLY consider deleting those.

You check the ones you want to Fix and press the "Fix Checked" button.

There should be documentation and a help file either in the program or on the website.

Fix will delete or reset (to default settings) the entries you are having trouble with.

Ad/spyware programs do not always catch what HiJackThis catches.. I understand you are hesitant..

But these are 7 entries you either do not want to have on your system, or need to fix. Its up to you whether or not you want to fix them.
