how to maximised windows/folders etc

when i click on "my computer" icon the window that opens is NOT MAXIMIZED. how do i make sure that any folders or any windows that opens initially is maximised

click the maximize icon next to the big red cross and then close the window. when you load it back up it should work

there is no maximise icon next to the big red cross. is there another way?

double click the title bar or on the start bar at the bottom, right click where it says my computer and lcik maximize

right click the bar across the top, and select maximize.

i tried what you guys said but it only works temporirily not permanantly. when i open folders again after sometimes it opens minimised. i want any folders to be maximized at all times whenever i opens them, if possible.

k, then do what we said, then press alt+f4 to close it, this works in keeping it maximized all the time, usually

The idea is that windows will remeber the windows state (state = maximised or not) of the last foldder view that you close. So if you imagine you have one folder open (we'll call it x) and anthor one open (we'll call it y). Now imagine that both are not maximised. They just sit in the middle of the screen one slightly behind the other.

Now maximse y, then close y. So now you will still have x open in a non maximised window. If you then close x windows xp will remeber the windows state of x and apply that to any new folder view windows that you open. So the idea is to maximise the last folder view window you have open before you close it, that way windows will open the next folder view window in the same state as the last one you closed.
